In communication 5G Technology is referred as 5th Generation Technology for broadband networks for transmitting (communicating) signals. It is poised to be at least 100X faster than 4G LTE connectivity provides today. Most phone companies are started deploying 5G in 2019.
The 5G wireless technology will enable higher data transmission speeds, more reliability, and a faster performance compared to the previous versions of generations.
With higher data speeds, advanced technologies, and new services come an increase in requirements. 5G cellular communication technologies are required to support a massive number of connections – tens, even hundreds of billions of them – with very high peak speeds and an ultra-low latency.
For better understanding 5G Technology let us understand the remaining 4 Technologies (1G,2G,3G,4G)
1G Technology:
It is developed in the 1980s and completed in early 1990s.It is based on Analog system (which uses Analog signals for communication), and it can provide a speed up to 2.4 Kbps. It is used only for voice calls.
2G Technology:
It is developed in the late 1980s and completed in late 1990s.This system is based on Digital system (which uses digital signals for communication) and it can provide a speed upto 64 Kbps. It can be Used for voice calling and SMS with more clarity then 1G.
3G Technology:
It is developed in the late 1990s.This is also based on Digital system. It can provide a speed 125 Kbps to 10 Mbps. It has a Superior voice clarity, Good Quality in video conferences, e-mail, banking etc., It is also used for Global Roaming.
4G Technology:
It is developed in 2010.This is also based on Digital system. It can provide a speed upto 100Mbps .It is faster and more Reliable . It can provide a good Global Roaming. Most of the Users are presently using 4G Technology for their mobile phones, laptops, and other communicating Device.
Coming back to our Main Topic 5G Technology most of the phone companies are now trying to implement it.
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries. It’s the next generation mobile wireless technology that is meant to replace 4G and 3G technology. Although 5G is still in the development phase now, we’re already starting to see some early applications being introduced.

- Some of countries are now using 5G Technology which includes (USA, CHINA, AUSTRALIA, CANADA etc.)and other countries are starting Investing in 5G Technology which includes India.
- In India Reliance Jio and Airtel are in top of Race developing 5G Technologies.
- Jio company chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on 24th June 2021 that it soon releasing 5G Jio next Phones.
DISADVANTAGES OF 5G TECHNOLOGY:
- Technology is still under process and research on its viability is going on.
- The speed, this technology is claiming seems difficult to achieve (in future, it might be) because of the incompetent technological support in most parts of the world.
- Many of the old devices would not be competent to 5G, hence, all of them need to be replaced with new one — expensive deal.
- Developing infrastructure needs high cost.
- Security and privacy issue yet to be solved.
Several Environmentalists, celebrities are expressing concern towards 5G Technology as it can harm Birds, Animals, environment due to its larger Bandwidth.
